I want more life, father…
Wonderful quote from Blade Runner, the cult sci-fi movie directed by Ridley Scott in 1982 with Harrison Ford as Deckard, the main character of the story. Opening quote is taken from movie scene where android Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) ask his creator for “more life”…
Blade Runner is based on Philip Dick’s 1968 novel Do androids dream of electric sheep?, wonderful story about androids life in human world.
Street photography: mannequins want more life
Well, what is the connection between movie androids and this post about street photography? Probably it doesn’t exist, or, perhaps, it exists only in my head and imagination. When I do street photography I like thinking sometimes there is a life behind everything. Thanks to the inspiration from androids sci-fi movie I’ve taken a series in street photography about mannequins.
Mannequins imprisoned in their dead plastic bodies, forced to live in shop windows, asking for more life, asking for freedom, asking for humanity. Often I like lights on mannequins and their expressive gestures. Shooting street photography in that way is funny and very simple. It’s a kind of photography that allows me also to study good compositions and lights. Some shop windows are minimal other are confusing… I also enjoy experimenting with reflections.
Below there are just a few pictures taken by my personal ongoing street photography “project” about mannequins. Photos are both in colors and BW; this is not a complete (and probably real) project, so don’t take it too seriously.
Enjoy life behind windows shop, enjoy the desire for freedom…
There are mannequins in cage…
There are dancing manniquins…
… and also funny…
What about futuristic mannequins?
Naked and surreal mannequins…
Last but not least, the romantic one…
Hope you stay well, have always light in your life
