Had a rough day out on the street and feel like giving it all up? Do you think a powerful, beautiful, moving image just appears out of nowhere? Street photography isn’t for everyone. It takes dedication, obsession. You have to believe in it, always. You need to be ready to shoot as if, at any second, the most beautiful image of your life could unfold right in front of you. Experience helps, but more than anything, you need to pour your time, your soul, and your heart into the streets.
The street hits hard. Most of the time it gives you nothing, sometimes you come home with nothing but bad experiences. The thought that maybe you’re wasting your time, that it’s not worth it, can become a constant companion after years of shooting.
I don’t have fun on the street, rarely, at least. Out there, I suffer. I’m overwhelmed by shyness, fear, and insecurity. My left brain keeps talking, striking hard, criticizing, blaming me. It clouds the creativity of my right brain, the artistic side, the fragile, insecure one.
Yes, I’ll be back…
