Soul, mood and fog: photoblog travel

travel photography fog

This is about my last small travel in Umbria (Italy) during Christamas holidays. I’ve taken few shots in the morning of foggy landscapes. I’ve tried to find also an human presence to change the main subject of my pictures. Photos posted here were taken with my smartphone, edited and post-processed directly on it. Essentially they are snapshots taken following my personal intuition and gut. I photographed for two mornings, starting at 10:30 AM. Many years ago I’ve taken pictures of the same place shooting from above at sunrise; the fog was forming and I’ve taken classic landscapes, the result was awesome, you can find more at this link. This year I was tired so I slept until late, but as I watched outside the window I’ve seen this wonderful fog on the valley. It was late to take photograph from above as last time, so I’ve decided to photograph inside it.

Unfortunatly i’vent my reflex with me. My gear was a smartphone with three lenses (wide, tele and ultra-wide) with a bad quality in poor light condition and my Ricoh GRIII. I was frustrated that I had not a real telephoto lens mounted on a mirrorless or reflex. But at the same time this was like a game for me: I had fun in making this kind of photographs. I’m really happy with the final result. Photos had a melancholy and sad mood, they speak about loneliness and abandoned places. I’ve pushed the contrast until the highlights burn. I’ve played with silhouettes obtaining minimal landscapes. I’ve added a lot of grain in post-production. I hope you’ll enjoy the final result. This is my travel photography with fog.
